The European University at Saint-Petersburg (EUSP) was founded in 1994, with the help of Mayor Anatolii Sobchak, as a non-governmental post-graduate school specializing in the social sciences. Modeled on Western universities such as Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley, the EUSP combines teaching with scholarly research â?? a method which enables us to provide an education on a par with Western institutions, and which also allows us to prepare a new generation of leading Russian academics. The EUSP provides
the expert knowledge necessary for introducing and implementing key reforms, essential to the successful development of the country.
â??Bringing the Best Togetherâ? â?? that has been our motto and remains the cornerstone of our work. The best Russian professors have come
together, under the roof of the EUSP, with outstanding students â?? representing 54 regions of Russia and 28 countries â?? who are committed,
and this is most important of all, to the pursuit of the best ideas. Since 1994 we have prepared over 650 specialists (including graduates of the IMARS program). Today they work in key positions in prestigious academic and research institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and in leading Russian and international firms.
The European University at Saint-Petersburg has achieved worldwide recognition and has attained a reputation as one of the most dynamic and modern academic institutions in the country. The EUSP is the only Russian university to be included in the London School of Economicsâ?? rating of â??the one hundred best European centers for political scienceâ?.
Faculty
| Number of Faculty Staff |
Headcount: 73 |
Total number of academic faculty staff who are responsible for planning, directing and undertaking teaching only, research only or both teaching and research. Please include: vice-chancellors, deputy vice-chancellors, principals, professors, heads of school, associate professors, principal lecturers, tutors or postdoctoral researchers. Please exclude research assistants*, PhD students who contribute to teaching, hospital residents and exchange scholars or visiting faculty staff who are members of another university. * The important distinction for us is that staff counted as 'research only' should be academically involved in that research and should be likely to publish research outputs. A research assistant, in our understanding, is any individual who is not doing own research and is therefore not likely to publish own research outputs. Said individual is (only) involved in research in terms of operation execution , such as lab technician or equipment operator.

Inclusion and exclusion mirrors those for academic faculty staff.
In case of dual citizenship, the 'deciding' criteria should be 'citizenship obtained through birth', basically first passport obtained.
