Environmental Biology Conversion

Program Description

The course is a joint venture between the Schools of Biology and Mathematics & Statistics at the University of St Andrews. Some aspects of the course will be conducted with collaboration with staff from The James Hutton Institute based at Invergowrie. This MRes has been designed to provide biologists planning a career in environmental research, whether in Universities, in national agencies or in the private sector, with a toolbox of essential techniques.

There is a strong emphasis on the development of the quantitative skills which are so essential to a career in modern Environmental Biology. These skills will be developed in a progressive manner, through personalised tutorial sessions, from simple to more complex concepts and techniques, so that students who are less comfortable with mathematics will find the course challenging but rewarding.
