The MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences offers an advanced research-based education which qualifies directly for the Swiss Federal Diploma in Pharmacy. Graduates may work as responsible pharmacist in a community or hospital pharmacy, in a leading position or as Qualified Person in the pharmaceutical industry, or ensuring safe drug use in governmental agencies.
The first two semesters are divided into core subjects (14 credits), electives (4 credits), a research project (10 credits) and the 22-week Master's thesis.
The professional training takes place in the 3rd and 4th semester. During an internship (approx. 20 weeks), students are trained in a community pharmacy. Another 10 weeks of internship may be done in a community or hospital pharmacy. During the internship preparatory and intermediate courses (in German) must be attended. The internship is completed by the Federal examination for registered pharmacists.
